Wacław Gawlik - painter, draftsman. For years he has been creating series of large-format works rooted in an abstract and conceptual perception of reality. From May 22 to June 27, 2026 we invite you to visit the exhibition “painting_drawing_gawlik_.”

Wacław Gawilk

He was born in Kraków in 1958. After graduating from the Department of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, he began teaching in 1987 at his alma mater in the Lettering Studio, instructing students of painting and sculpture — initially at the Department of Graphic Arts, and since 2014 at the Department of Sculpture within the Chair of Architectural and Sculptural Design.

He works in painting, drawing, graphic design, and digital art, and his body of work is the result of experiences accumulated over the years, gained through both his teaching and artistic practice. Although the themes explored in his work are diverse, as are the techniques used, and the associative elements that appear in his pieces often draw inspiration from the nature that surrounds us, their formal structure and conceptual message are always rooted in an abstract, painterly perception of reality. His works, typically large-format paintings and drawings, have been featured in a number of exhibitions, both solo and group shows, and some of them are now in private and museum collections.
