Exhibition
This exhibition, scheduled to open on July 31 at 6:00 p.m., is a remarkable fusion of traditional craftsmanship and modern design, in which Małgorzata Szpila transforms intricate bobbin lace into light, organic jewelry forms inspired by the natural world. The exhibition showcases unique works by this internationally acclaimed artist.
“Blossom” is an exhibition of artistic jewelry created using the traditional bobbin lace technique. Each piece is inspired by the world of flowers and nature, where the delicate structure of the threads blends with the brilliance of colorful gemstones.

This is a fusion of craftsmanship and art, in which time-consuming, hand-crafted work creates light, organic forms reminiscent of blooming structures.

The exhibition shows how traditional lace can become a contemporary artistic medium, translating the emotions, light, and subtlety of nature into the form of jewelry.

Małgorzata Szpila
She is a jewelry designer for whom bobbin lace represents both a legacy and a language of contemporary artistic expression. She has been working with this traditional technique since childhood, viewing it not only as a craft but as a way of thinking and building relationships between material, structure, and emotion.

Her work evolves at the intersection of tradition and modernity. Classic lace patterns are transformed into original jewelry designs and art objects characterized by lightness, space, and a sculptural approach to the material. The artist combines silk threads, metallized yarns, and jewelry wire to create compositions that distinctly reflect a contemporary interpretation of traditional craftsmanship.

She graduated from the Art High School in Nowy Sącz and went on to earn a master’s degree in cultural studies. Her thesis focused on lace-making in Poland and around the world. She is a multiple award winner in bobbin lace competitions.

She has presented her work at international festivals and exhibitions, including in Spain, Italy, China, Russia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Portugal, and many other countries. In 2023, she held a solo exhibition at a gallery in Arenys de Mar, Spain, which was a special honor, as the city is home to one of the most important bobbin lace museums in Europe.

She currently creates jewelry in her studio in Wales and also carries out community projects promoting Bobowa and its craft traditions.

Her current success is the result of 25 years of lace-making practice; however, as she herself emphasizes, lace is a never-ending story - each thread opens up new possibilities, and the only limit is how far we allow it to unfold.
The exhibition accompanies the World Lace Festival in Bobowa
