We invite you to discover the world of a Slovak artist who gives bobbin lace—now a highly regarded art form straddling the line between luxury craftsmanship and contemporary art—a completely new, three-dimensional dimension. On July 31 at the SOKÓŁ FOYER Art Gallery, join us for a meeting with Jana Frajkorová, the artist behind the exhibition “Magnificent Wires II”.
Jana Frajkorová was born in 1964 in Prešov, where she graduated from high school (1978–1982) and then earned her degree from the Faculty of Education at P. J. Šafárik University (1982–1987). From 1987 to 1994, she taught mathematics at an elementary school in Šarišské Michaľany, and from 1994 to 2000, she worked as a teacher of artistic lace-making in Prešov. Since 2000, she has been self-employed.

Jana Frajkorová – Magnificent Wires II

Bobbin lace, now a highly prized art form that straddles the line between luxury craftsmanship and contemporary art, in Jana Frajkorová’s interpretation, it takes on a whole new dimension. By combining mathematical precision with a “sixth sense,” the artist creates unique, three-dimensional wire forms that defy the laws of physics and the forces of nature. We invite you to a world where logical construction meets fragile beauty, creating objects that evoke pure joy and wonder at the possibilities of the human imagination.
