The building housing the BWA SOKÓŁ Gallery of Contemporary Art was erected between 2008 and 2010, as a modern extension of the main building of the Sokół Centre of Culture of Lesser Poland. The Gallery is a four-storey structure of approx. combined area of 2 000 m²/ 21 500 sq ft. it contains two exposition rooms of combined area of approx. 400 m²/4306 sq ft.), an auditorium for 240 seats, educational room and storage facilities. The new building was designed by KKM KOZIEŃ Architekci s.c. from Kraków, Poland under the direction of dr Marek Kozień, dr Magdalena Kozień-Woźniak and Katarzyna Kozień-Kornecka. It was built by a consortium of builders: F.U. EKO-REM- BUD of Jan Cabak from Łabowa and F.B. Konsbud of Jan Konstanty from Nowy Sącz. This project was funded with the contribution from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the Regional Operational Program for the Lesser Poland Voivodeship for 2007-2013, through the efforts of the provincial government of Lesser Poland and of the Lesser Poland Centre of Culture SOKÓŁ in Nowy Sącz, this project’s investor.
